Does that wonder cream really work miracles? Will that new long lasting lippy stay put all night? Emma Smith puts the latest beauty products through their paces.

The Product
MADARA Regenerating Night Cream - an organic cream which hydrates and nourishes with natural plant vitamins, antioxidants and minerals from plants harvested according to the lunar phases. Free from synthetic preservatives, artificial fragrances and colours and suitable for all skin types. Retails at around £25 for 50ml, available from Selfridges or online at amarya.co.uk and ecorium.co.uk.
The claim
Eco-centric Latvian brand MADARA say this cream, which contains baltic plant extracts, helps prevent the skin ageing process and stimulates cell renewal, smoothing fine lines and repairing damage from stress, sun and environment.
The Verdict
Appearance and features:: The eco-friendly packaging is understated with an earthy aesthetic which, although representative of the product, is not particularly eye-catching and fails to stand out.The cream itself has a refreshingly natural smell with herbal hints. Easily absorbed leaving a smooth, dew-free finish. A little goes a long way so use sparingly!
The result: Skin is noticeably smoother the morning after first application, with no oily or dry patches. After several nights' use, the complexion is noticeably brighter and skin feels supple and quenched.
The final word
There is no 'magical' wonder-formula in this cream, the natural ingredients are kind on the skin which is left noticeably smoother and fresh-looking. A great, guilt-free product for all skin types, regardless of age. Strongly recommended.
